All my life
I got what I wanted,
But never what I needed.
Now perhaps my luck is changing
And I am getting what I need
But nothing I want.
It makes me sad to see what I perceive as happiness
Slipping away from my hands;
It makes me sad to understand
That I may never have what I want again,
That my happiness will never make me smile for a minute or two,
But my laughter may perhaps last a lifetime?
Is that a dream?
Do people know they stand at the edge of a precipice if all they can see around them is darkness?
It has to be a sixth sense that warns you of your demise
If you take a step forward instead of backwards,
For sometimes...
It is better to step back than surge ahead,
Step back from that cliff,
Take what you need and not what you want.
I got what I wanted,
But never what I needed.
Now perhaps my luck is changing
And I am getting what I need
But nothing I want.
It makes me sad to see what I perceive as happiness
Slipping away from my hands;
It makes me sad to understand
That I may never have what I want again,
That my happiness will never make me smile for a minute or two,
But my laughter may perhaps last a lifetime?
Is that a dream?
